This means there was blood detected in either one or two of your stool samples. Blood in the stool needs to be investigated, and you should be referred for a colonoscopy to look for a bowel cancer or pre-cancerous polyps. Only about 3-4% of patients with a positive FOBT will have a bowel cancer detected.
