Tuberous sclerosis (TSC) is a rare genetic disease that causes benign tumours to grow in the brain and on other vital organs such as the kidneys, heart, eyes, lungs, and skin. There is no cure for TSC, although treatment is available for a number of the symptoms, such as medication to shrink the tubers and antiseizure medications for seizures.
TSC is a complex condition and varies greatly from person to person. Your son’s tubers will not grow with age, but there are a number of other changes that could happen. We strongly advise you to speak to your specialist about his condition and future outlook.
