Most people suffer from memory lapses at some time, but people with epilepsy seem to be more likely to experience memory difficulties as a consequence of having seizures. This situation can certainly be frustrating. Some suggestions that may help you in these circumstances include:

    • Try and park your car in the same or similar location each time you go to the shops
    • Concentrate on where you are parking
    • When you park, before you get out of the car, take a pen and paper and write down the level, colour and location of your car. Don't forget to take this with you!
    • Take a picture with your phone if you feel this will be easier than writing it all down on paper
    • Try to park near a landmark e.g. the lift, exit or stairs - if you can and remember which entrance you used to go into the shopping centre
    • Go to the shopping centre when it isn’t so busy (if you can) so you have more of a choice where you can park
    • Maybe tie something to your aerial or car to make it visually easier to see. Remove it before driving though.
