• Kidney disease is often picked up incidentally when a person is undergoing treatment for other conditions, or as part of a general health check-up with a primary care physician.
• Risk factors such as a family history of kidney disease, hypertension, obesity or diabetes can cause kidney disease even in the absence of symptoms.
• Symptoms such as severe headaches, blurred vision, blood in the urine, foamy urine or swelling in the limbs can be a sign of kidney disease.
• See your general practitioner if you have any concerns regarding with the above, and a simple blood test and urine analysis generally reveals the condition of the kidneys.
