White coat syndrome after bowel cancer

I am 16 months post op from having a right hemicolectomy for stage 2 bowel cancer. Thankfully, I did not require chemotherapy and all of my 3 monthly checks have been clear including my 12 month MRI and colonoscopy. Since my health scare, I have developed anxiety when seeing the doctor, no amount of self-talk helps, I just think the worst. Lately, my last three visits have seen a small spike in my blood pressure, not really high but higher than a text book, my doctor says this may be white coat syndrome. Is this a common thing with patients after cancer? And is it possible to reverse high blood pressure?
