How do you treat Binge Eating Disorder?

    Related Topic
I have been diagnosed with BED which I believe I have had all my life. A few years ago I got very unwell and was diagnosed with severe Pan Ulcerative Colitis. I was so sick that I stopped eating and lost 20 kilos in a few days. That flare nearly killed me yet I was happy that I lost all that weight. I see a psychologist who specialises in eating disorders but still overeat or binge at times. I get on with my psychologist but get annoyed with myself that I still don't have full control. Why can't I control my eating disorder or lose weight? How does BED get treated? At the beginning, I felt that I was getting better but after 6 sessions I feel like I am in limbo. My treatment involves me documenting everything I eat and how I feel - is there any other things I can do to get better?

I would recommend the Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Course.  It uses many of the psychological thought processes to help people understand their relationship with food.  The course provides a step-by-step process to help manage eating habits in a non-judgemental, caring manner.

Hello.  Apologies for not responding earlier.  I offer the course online.  It is over 8 weeks, each session taking between 60 and 90 minutes.  If you are interested, I would be pleased to talk further.  You can see more about the courses at www.amihungry.com or at my website at www.dieteffects.com.au
