  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

I have a large fibroid and a cyst on each ovary. What should I do?

I find that because of the fibroid and cysts it gives me trouble when I go for walks and makes it uncomfortable to do so...also it makes me go to the toilet more often than normal.

    Hi

Fibroids, especially the large ones and the ones located in the anterior part of the uterus are known to put pressure on your bladder ( the bag that collects urine in your body). This causes women to go the toilet more often as it does not allow the bladder to fill up to its capacity. Also, depending on size and location of the fibroid, women can experience various symptoms of heaviness, pain, etc. There are various medical and surgical treatments available. These will have to be tailored to your requirements and symptoms.

Please see you Gp and ask him/her to refer you to a Gynaecologist, who is also a fibroid specialist.

    Hope this helps
