Gynaecologist, Obstetrician
Hi, Sorry to hear you are having trouble falling pregnant. Those were indeed quite sizeable fibroids!
Generally speaking, many people fall pregnant after a myomectomy. But it depends on what was done in the surgery, whether the uterine cavity was entered during the surgery, and what the remaining uterus is like and whether it affected the tubes or ovaries. There are also other factors such as age, period problems, and other medical conditions that can make it less likely to fall pregnant. Of course, we can't forget the male side too (sperm quality).
The best thing to do is see a gynaecologist or fertility specialist for a full history, examination and investigation. Conception is complex: eggs need to be released properly, the tubes need to transport the eggs, fertilisation needs to occur at the right moment, implantation needs to be just right, and growth of the embryo is a delicate process.
