Psychologist
Getting answers and a diagnosis can be helpful and meaningful. It can answer many questions and provide explanations for the individual.
You should look for a Psychologist in your area who specialises in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Talking to your GP would be the first step in this process. Alternatively searching the web for Psychologists in your area using the keywords of "Autism Spectrum Distorder Psychologist" is another option.
Most diagnostic assessments for ASD are conducted over several sessions and some health funds may provide a rebate.
I hope this helps.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for taking the time out to respond to my question. I imagine that adults in a similar situation as myself have gradually succumbed to the notion that living a less than joyful life is about making the best of the cards we are dealt. Without using this media to specifically point to my own situation I just have to say that as a mature adult, who has pursued your suggestions (above), there is an abundant lack of psychologists willing or able to work with adults in the ASD field. I have under medical supervision experienced and practiced many different types of therapeutic modalities to treat symptoms but not causes! That is why a diadnosis at this point in my life would be helpful.
Thanks, Chris

Thanks again Daniel.
Unfortunately I reside a good way south from your location but take strength from your kind interest.
Cheers!
Chris
