    This is a really tricky question - swelling can be caused by many different things, some of which are relatively safe and benign (such as a chronic sprain), but others more serious (such as a systemic condition such as heart problems or poor circulation like that seen in compartment syndrome or diabetes).

    This would require a proper examination by a healthcare professional to be able to provide an accurate diagnosis.
