Hi, that clear stretchy mucous you mentioned is what happens around ovulation. In a normal cycle you'll experience that for a day or a couple of days, and its around the time it finishes that you're fertile. There is a lot that can be done from a herbal medicine perspective to assist with bringing your cycle back into regularity. Unfortunately conventional medicine doesn't have much to offer here. I'd be happy to discuss things further with you if you're interested. All the best! Angela.

It can be a bit more difficult to predict ovulation if your periods are irregular. However, all women can look out for the same signs that point to ovulation every month. The clear stretchy-type mucus indicates that your Estrogen levels have peaked, which USUALLY means ovulation will occur shortly after (24 hrs or so).
You will usually find that your period arrives 14 days after noticing this mucus. This “luteal phase” (the time between ovulation and your period arriving) is always 14 days in length. I am wondering if your period did arrive after 24/5/13? (I am not sure when you posted about this).
However, your periods are very far apart, and this makes it even more challenging for you. If you haven't had your period yet, and if you are only having a few, if that, per year, a gynaecologist review is an excellent idea. Good luck

Hi there,
I would recommend that you see a gynecologist. There are a number of causes of anovulation (not regularly ovulating). One of the common causes is polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). PCOS can be diagnosed on history and examination findings coupled with ultrasound and bloods test results.
A complete infertility work up may help you and your husband. This would include semen analysis, tubal studies and investigation of your ovulation status.
Once you have this information you can then be counseled as to the best way forward.
Good Luck.
