    Does muscle weigh more than fat?

    hi, i was just wondering ive been doing weight watchers for a few weeks and have been losing weight and have just started exercising via walking and all of a sudden ive started gaining the weight back, i havent been eating anything extra over my points and i wondered if it was true if muscle weighs more than fat? if it is could that explain the weight gain

    Yes, it the simpliest form muscle does weight more than fat. If you have gone from doing essentially no structutred physical activity to commencing some (Ie walking) it is likely that there has been some muscle development/growth - this, despite the activity not being a ‘typical’ exercise utilised for muscle mass.

    If you have maintained your diet and commenced some walking an idea may be to track your fat mass / percentage (electronic scales). This will help clarify where the additional weight has come from.
