I do believe protective clothing is important, they say a lot of remedies from garlic right through to vitamin B should work and I actually believe those repel them a little bit. The things that we use up here in Queensland are any of the essential oils, most of them work. One of the old ones we use to use was a certain Bug Balm. It used to work really well because it had some of those things in it. It had aloe Vera and everything and it was a really, really good one. I have not seen it in the shops recently. If you get essential oils, I mean any of them like lemon balm, they work well. And there is a natural one, carrot seed oil. You can use it to prevent insects, but it is also very good for UV and preventing sunburn as well.

Hi!
Essential oils can be incredibly good at repelling insects.
Do take care in how you apply them - as essential oils (not fragrant oils) are very strong. Always mix them in a carrier or base oil (eg olive oil) - and a few drops in 50ml should be more than adequate if applying it on your skin.
I am not sure that we are allowed to mention specific products here - but I do know of one that has good results, especially for those who get bitten by mosquitoes.
Good luck,
Lucinda
