How urgent is it to have a cervical polyp removed?

I have a cervical polyp which has grown back and is in the lining of my cervix at the lower end. I have seen a specialist who has recommended day surgery to remove it. All my pap smears have come back normal so is there any rush in removing the polyp? I know I should eventually have it seen too but Im just not sure how urgent it is.

    Thanks

Whilst most cervical polyps are benign, you should see your gynecologist as soon as possible to remove the polyps, so that they can be sent to the pathologist for examination under the microscope.
Many cervical polyps can be removed in the consulting room, without the need for surgery.
