Cutting out bread alone will not help you lose a significant amount of weight. You do not want to ever cut out any food group particularly the breads and cereals group as it provides us with vital nutrients. Weight loss results from a reduction of energy in (decrease what we eat) and an increase of energy out (increase exercise and movement) so cutting out bread alone will not make a significant difference as it is about the overall energy of the diet. You do not necessarily need to consume bread every day and if you are not eating bread it is important to still consume other foods from the breads and cereals food group (wholegrain crackers, brown rice etc).

There are some fantastic resources on the website, ‘Australia’s Healthy Weight Week' that looks at fad-free meal plans and also offer higher protein, lower GI meal plans too. Australia's Healthy Weight Week runs from the 17th-23rd of January 2014.

It is a great read and can provide you some further ideas and support on how to lose weight without cutting out food groups, or complete avoidance of bread.

The resources can be found at http://www.healthyweightweek.com.au.

Wish you all the best and great journey to good health,

    Claudia.
