    I would think that medication should be used as a last resort. The New England Journal of Medicine 7th Feb 2002 described a study which was conducted comparing the use of Metformin with Lifestyle as an antidote to Diabetes. Metformin resulted in a 31% reduction in blood sugar, a good result, but a change of lifestyle consisting of Exercise and Diet resulted in a 58% reduction.  Whereas most medications have unwanted side effects a change in lifestyle would have useful side effects especially in children. Teaching the client to relax would also result in lowering Omental fat and would help with Type 2 Diabetes.  pericros@alphalink.com.au
