  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

How can I relieve aching hips due to menopause?

I don't have arthritis. I take low dose oestrogen, medication for hypertension, fish oil, vitamin D, magnesium and exercise daily.

This maybe way off but I had aching hips and after worrying about it for ages (thinking it was age related), giving up all exercise and trying some alternative therapies, a trip to the doctor revealed that I had bursitis of the hips and referred me to a physio who taped my hips and gave me some simple exercises to do which relieved the pain and was able to start exercising again.  If it is uncomfortable to lie on your side in bed then it could be bursitis.  It came on when I started a new form of exercise.
