    How much alcohol can i consume ?

    I have recently been diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. I am not currently taking any medication. How much alcohol is it safe for me to consume in a regular week?

    Current alcohol recommendations:
    No more than 2 standard drinks for both males and females
    1 standard drink is equal to:
    100mls of wine
    285mls of regular beer
    425mls of light beer
    30 mls of spirits
    60 mls of fortified wines
    we also generally encourage 2 alcohol free days 
    It is important to remember however  that alcohol is quite high in energy providing 27kj per gram so if you are watching your weight then you need to consider this
