Generally speaking, I have three visits. The first visit to prepare the tooth with the crown, which takes about an hour. A second visit, approximately three or so days later for the impression, which takes normally twenty to thirty minutes. Then two weeks following that second appointment, we have a twenty or thirty minute appointment to cement the crown into place.

Two to three simple appointments can often take about 2 weeks from start to finish for your crown . Please get a quote for the crown . Costs can vary greatly ( sometimes by as much as $700 from one dentist to another ) . There are also composite or white filling crowns that can always be done. These are much less expensive and are very durable and can often do the job (depending on your budget ) .
This second (budget) option is also a consideration if you have other dental work to do .

At Just Dental Care if you decide to have a crown done we will usually have it started and completed over 2 visits. The first visit generally takes between 40-60 minutes. This will entail taking an x-ray to ensure that the tooth can accept a crown and that there are no underlying complications that we are not aware of. If the tooth is Ok and you are aware of the pros and cons of having a crown, then we can start a crown preparation. An impression is taken and a temporary crown is placed over the top of the prepared tooth. The impression is sent to the laboratory and the crown is then fabricated.
The next appointment usually between 2-3 weeks later involves cementing the permanent crown in place.
If all goes well, this appointment takes 30 minutes.

Having a crown made is usually a two appointment procedure, with the second appointment two to three weeks after the first appointment. Trying in the crown, cementing it and adjusting the bite usualy takes about 30 minutes.
