There have been some studies that show that there are site specific exercises you can do, but it's not conclusive. So, some studies have said that if you do upper body and lower body combined with some of the jumping-type work, it improves the bone density of the spine.
I would definitely include some upper and lower body resistance. Often short
or higher berth, making sure you're changing direction are important, but
it does need to be supervised. Because any rapid flexing or twisting of the
spine does have to be watched. Certainly doing some kind of step-ups and
including upper and lower body resistance would definitely help that area.
