It has been proven that the greatest benefit comes from a combination of both. Adding resistance training to cardiovascular exercise has been seen to get the greatest improvements. exercising on most days to control the blood sugar levels is also important. It is also important to make sure that some type of relaxation exercise is included into the workouts as well, to help balance out people who are particularly stressed.

I consider them both important. Both contribute to better health for diabetes type II patients. While cardiovascular workouts are longer in duration, they assist in increasing energy expenditure, decreasing body fat, maintaining or decreasing weight, according to the objective of the patient. This is why it improves diabetes inflammation and can decrease the risks associated with disease.

At the same time, weight training also contributes to manage the disease, because it assists energy expenditure, but not as much as cardiovascular workouts. But, it increases muscle mass, and this way, it increases the metabolic rate. Increasing muscle mass contributes helps with improving the insulin sensitivity, another important factor for diabetes type II patients. Therefor I would recommend including both weight training and cardiovascular workouts in the program, either on the same day or on different days, but definitely both as part of the program.
