This can often be a very easy and inexpensive problem to solve .We simply reshape and or remove the sharp edges on the teeth that cause your tongue or even your cheek to become sore .Your teeth become smooth and less intrusive to your soft tissues . Sometimes we may need to treat or restore the teeth ,if the rubbing indicates decay or a broken filling . This particular problem can somtimes be related to unintentional cheek or tongue biting .

They can be reshaped by either a filling, crown or just quickly reshaping by drilling. Ideally will need to see a Dentist for an accurate answer.

It may be helpful to look at functional habits too. The habitual rest postures and movement habits of the tongue may also be contributing to abrasion. A comprehensive evaluation of your jaw structure and teeth is the best way to determine why abrasion of the 'soft tissues' is occurring and whethere or not it can/can not be adjusted. This can be done by an Orofacial Myofunctional practitioner.
