  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Is Erectile Dysfunction & Premature Ejaculation the same thing?

What contributes to them as my partner has trouble getting and sustaining an erection, so we cannot use a condom. As soon as he enters me, he only lasts a few seconds and I think he ejaculates and goes soft.
Is Age a factor in it. He is 56 yrs old.
Is Impotence the same as infertile? or Erectile Dysfunction?

Impotence is the old term for difficulting in gaining or sustaining an erection. These days it's called erectile dysfunction. Premature ejaculation is when a man ejaculates too quickly. It sounds as though your partner has both. Age can be a factor in erectile dysfunction, but not premature ejaculation.

There are many approaches to improving both erectile functioning and lasting longer. Drugs such as viagra and cialis can help with maintaining an erection, as can using a cock ring. Sex therapy helps with both conditions.

  • If your partner is circumcised, this would likely be a contributing factor to the issue. Foreskin restoration may help. Circumcised males are 4.5 times more likely than intact males to experience sexual dysfunction.
