Podiatrist (General)
It depends on the situation. First of all, inappropriate shoes, such as high heels and pointy toed shoes will need to be avoided. Often the podiatrists will reshape the nail sulcus and remove the sharp edge causing the pain and educate the patient on correct nail cutting will suffice , if its a one off situation. However ,if it reoccurs regularly, then a partial nail avulsion and phenolization can peramently rectify the situation(is a simple surgical technique under a local anaesthetic). These are standard podiatric techniques.
