I have DT T2 AND peripheral vascular disease, which puts me at great risk of some sort of foot problem. In fact, I lost two toes around 7 years ago.
I do a visual examination of my feet every morning after my shower - just a quick check when I am drying off. I pay particular attention to any abrasions or cuts - treating them immediatly and covering them. I see a podiatrist every 4-6 weeks who trims my nails and gives me a thorough food examination (mine is through a hospital specialist unit that I have been attending since i developed ulcers back in 2005) - but I expect if you are not eligilble for hospital unit support, a regular podiatrist would provide the same service. Its a good investment for peace of mind!

Oh, I should also say that i moistureise my feet a couple of times a week - apparently this keeps the skin supple and less inclined to chap or crack.
