The answer to this question is like the proverbial length of string. However the main thing to be certain of is your surgeons qualifications. Only a qualified Cosmetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon has the qualifiactions to perform cosmetci plastic surgery. Look fir the initials FRACS behind your surgeons name. This stands for a “Fellow of the Australian College of Surgeons”. Without these letters, it is likely the doctor in question has no formal surgicl qualifications!

  • Having surgery can be life-changing, so you'll want to know exactly what the risks and potential benefits of surgery are so you can weigh them against each other. So do your research well and get your information from reputable sources you can trust. It is also important that you make sure your expectations are realistic so you are happy with the outcome.

Talking with a psychologist before undergoing surgery may be helpful if you are feeling unsure or anxious. A good psychologist will help you make the best choice for YOU and should never try to influence your decision one way or the other.

You can find a psychologist in your area on the Australian Psychological Society website: www.psychology.org.au/findapsychologist/

    All the best.
