    If you are living with that person, then the obvious behavior will be that they never have any money. They lie about where the money is and where it has gone so, there will be lots of tall stories which will be quite easy to pick.

    Gamblers are usually highly intelligent people, and when they are not gambling, they are thinking about gambling. They are often very preoccupied. They can be quite sneaky in how they can get away from their partner or get out to gamble.

    One simple way to notice is if you look at the bank statements and the credit card statements, you will notice lots of withdrawals within clubs and places where there are poker machines. The most common form of gambling is definitely poker machines. The other fairly consistent history is that gamblers that are addicted to gambling have nearly always been involved in gambling as children. They have either found a way to gamble themselves as children, or they come from a family where gambling was there. So that initial huge excitement of a big win is often what keeps them trapped.
