  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

why is depression medication so expensive?

It costs $52 a month, is meant to help with depression but increases my anxiety about finding the extra money. I have lowered my dose to make the tablets last longer but that still leaves me depressed.

Check with medicare , i think after you reach a certain limit you get either medication reduced in price .

This is if your prescription medicine is covered under medicare , i think but not sure that medicare only looks at the generic brands and certain types of medications as well.

So best thing is to get into contact with medicare somehow and speak with them .

Sometimes if you buy more than one box  or in bulk of your prescription medication the price gets lowered as well and you save money. Check that one with your pharmacist .

Hope this helps and in the meantime just think is it really worth it to worry about it , as tough as this is you are only affecting your health further and what for ? nothing absolutely.

Good luck with everything and hope this helps you in anyway.

    Kind Regards
