dyslexia can be confused with a milder reeading delay. Dyslexia is often distinguished when other factors are intact. The person might be of average intelligence but uusually scores well below expected ability on recongized reading and decoding tests. It is also important to assess rapid automatic naming and comprehension. I have seen dyslexics confused with children with ADHD.

Dyslexia is also known as a Specific Learning Disorder of Reading. It affects 5-15% of individuals and occurs in both adults and children. Dyslexia is essentially a reading disorder beginning in childhood which makes it difficult for individuals to read fluently and comprehend texts.
There is a lot of confusion in the community and people often incorrectly believe that Dyslexia is related to vision difficulties. However in most instances individuals with Dyslexia actually have difficulties with processing sounds verbally within their mind.
As Dyslexia often makes academic tasks more confusing and tiring, children affected by the condition may frequently be off task. This work avoidance can be confused with symptoms of Attendion Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There is also a higher co-morbidity between ADHD and Dyslexia because they are both neurologically based.
