Thanks
This is a somewhat controversial issue as studies on this topic have given mixed results. Some studies, including the Blue Mountains Eye Study from western Sydney, indicate that glaucoma is more likely to occur in individuals who report a history of thyroid disease or previous thyroid treatment. This is countered by other work including a genetics study from Tasmania found no association between thyroid disease and glaucoma.
The other issue is that abnormal thyroid function may be associated with thyroid eye disease. Thyroid eye disease can sometimes be associated with elevated intraocular pressure. As elevated intraocular pressure is a risk factor for glaucoma, one might expect that glaucoma occurs more frequently in thyroid eye disease. This has not been studied well but clinical experience suggests glaucoma is not as frequent in thyroid eye disease as you might expect. The reasons for this are not clear. It is possible that treatments for thyroid eye disease are achieving better outcomes than they have in the past.
