    Around the time of the swine flu pandemic and the introduction of the swine flu vaccine, in some countries it was noted that there was a small increase in the number of new narcolepsy cases diagnosed. It is not clear whether the increase in narcolepsy cases seen was a result of swine flu itself or the swine flu vaccination, with research being inconclusive. Most importantly, the number of narcolepsy cases was very small with millions of swine flu vaccinations, so this should not be a reason to avoid swine flu vaccination if another pandemic occurs.
