There are a range of treatments available, both medication-based and non-medication options. Restless legs symptoms can be made worse by iron deficiency, caffeine, nictoine and alcohol. So it is important to minimise intake of caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. Restless legs symptoms are also made worse by immobility, so movement such as walking or pacing and massaging the limbs can be helpful. It is important to discuss restless legs symptoms with your general practitioner (GP) as medical conditions, such as iron deficiency or anaemia can cause restless legs symptoms.
