Weight management is important for ageing well as being overweight or obese can put you at an increased risk of many chronic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, as well as placing your joints under increased stress and putting you at a higher chance of osteoarthritis in the main weight bearing joints.
