Hi Kristen,
Thank you for your post regarding your grandfather’s recent diagnosis and operation, and also for sharing some of your own experiences - as a loved one of someone undergoing treatment for bowel cancer.
We know how hard it can be to hear that someone you care about has bowel cancer, and to support them through their treatment.
Please do let us know if we can ever assist by offering advice, or help by answering any questions you have.
If you do have any queries or concerns - please feel free to contact us at Bowel Cancer Australia for advice from our nurse and nutritionist advisory services, or if you would like more information on joining our Love My Family Community which, among many things, can put in contact with another member in a similar situation – family members and/or carers of someone undergoing treatment for bowel cancer.
Sending your grandfather our very best wishes.
Kind regards
The team at Bowel Cancer Australia

My father had a similar op when he was 76 and although at the time is was horrible, he recoverd really well and died aged 89 from old age. He was given a second chance at life and witnessed 4 more grandchildren born and spent time with my mother travelling.
