Simple Q worthy of a simple A. Should coffee be used for people trying to lose weight? No. Why? Because in my experience I can think of many people struggling with lots of excess fat and drinking lots of coffees too. Although Coffee does provide some satisfaction-like feelings, it is unlikely to have a real impact on appetite during the day. Furthermore stimulants like caffeine could potentially swing blood sugar levels around on a roller-coaster ride which in turn could encourage binging spells. not a certain, but not worth risking it. saying that, a coffee or 2 before say 2pm is well within the boundaries of a healthy diet and even has some antioxidant benefits. Note for those using homeopathic remedies, coffee and homeopathic agents don't fit well together.

I agree with Mark - it is the milk in the coffee that is helping Nicky - not the coffee!

If I drink a black coffee - I will be starving within 20 minutes. Weird.

all coffee does it - but the black makes it come on the fastest. I wonder if caffeine evens works to reduce hunger for a lot of people. I do know however that it increases metabolism and lipolysis - the breakdown of fat
It can also increase cortisol however - a breakdown hormone that increases the breakdown of muscle and fat to feed the rest of the body. If you are active and use your muscles regularly, the breakdown ratio will sway more to your fat cells, if you are sedentary and your muscles are soft and out of use, they are a prime target for breaking down first

Very true Matt. We also have to think about the negative side effects of caffeine; including insomnia, anxiety and palpitations. All things in moderation.
