Qualifications
Dr Rughani is a double qualified Specialist Plastic, Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgeon based in Brisbane & North Lakes.
He is one of few surgeons in Australia who has been awarded (by examination) Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons in England.
He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons & Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Milap completed his Plastic Surgery training in Oxford UK, thereafter completed 2 more years of fellowships in Australia and has been working as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Brisbane since 2019. He has 13 years of experience and performed 20,000 operations in Plastic Surgery.
In addition to his plastic surgery training, he has completed subspecialty surgical fellowships in Microsurgical reconstruction of the face, head and body (Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, QLD) and Melanoma & Surgical oncology (Melanoma Institute Australia, Sydney).
Milap has undertaken further training in the USA, India, Europe and Australia in order to gain knowledge and experience to improve and apply surgical best practice for all of his patients.
Dr. Rughani is Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland continues his research interest in Scalp SCC, Melanoma, Merkel cell cancer and optimising outcomes in facial reconstruction for skin cancer. He was awarded a masters in research for his work on Melanoma at the University of Oxford and has published sixteen research papers and presented his research both domestically and internationally.
Dr. Rughani has a passion for teaching and training younger surgeons and has also produced a podcast to promote education and learning in plastic surgery.
Beyond Surgery, he has been a flying doctor in Africa, mountain expedition doctor and fellow for academy for higher education.
Outside of work Dr Rughani enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, and in his free time, he enjoys playing cricket, squash and cooking.
